Victor Frederick Groth was born on December 18, 1922, in Denver, Colorado. He was the son of Victor Ferdinand Groh and Anna J. Bittick Groh.
Victor served in the 861st Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Waist Gunner on the B-17 #44-6278 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 10, 1945, in Belgium, on return from a mission to Köln, Germany.
SSgt Groh is now buried in the Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, Colorado. His name is listed on the 493rd Bomber Group Honor Roll located in St. Mary the Virgin Church, Clopton, England, but his surname is spelled as Groth.
