Richard J. “Dick” Hanft was born on April 24, 1919, in Gloversville, New York. He was married to Dorothy Mary Hanft.
Richard served in the 861st Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot on the B-17 #44-6278 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 10, 1945, in Belgium, on return from a mission to Köln, Germany.
2Lt Hanft is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
