Henry Thomas "Tommy" Slayden was born on March 15, 1921, in Clarksville, Tennessee. He was the son of Charles Alvin Slayden and Willie Alma Baker Slayden.
Henry served in the 861st Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Nose Gunner on the B-17 #44-6278 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 10, 1945, in Belgium, on return from a mission to Köln, Germany.
SSgt Slayden is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
