Frank David Baldwin was born on August 4, 1921, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the son of Harry Benjamin Baldwin and Ruth Connor Baldwin.

Frank served in the 861st Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot during World War II. On June 14, 1944, his crew took off from Debach on an operational mission to Laon Airfield, France. On return at 9945 hrs, their aircraft spun in and crashed at Foxboro Hall Farm, Melton, Suffolk, while attempting an emergency landing. Their aircraft was returning from operations in Chievres with one engine out. All crew members were killed in the crash.

2Lt Baldwin is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
