Lavern L. Sheldon was born on September 9, 1923. He was the son of Allen Sheldon and Alice Margaret Jennings Sheldon.

Lavern served in the 314th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 29, 1944, at the age of 20, during the liberation of Vexin, France. PFC Sheldon is now buried in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Owosso, Shiawassee County, Michigan, USA.
