Jack H. Moss was born in 1924 in Georgia. He was the son of William Moss and Cordelia Edson Gillespie Moss.

Jack resided in Jackson County, Georgia, prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on March 4, 1943, at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Georgia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Farm Hand and also as Single, without dependents.

Jack served in the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 27, 1944, during the liberation of Vexin, France. PFC Moss is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Mount Olive Cemetery, Commerce, Jackson County, Georgia.
