Thomas Malcolm McIver was born on February 19, 1913, in Buffalo Gap, Texas. He was the son of George Wesley McIver and Dora L. Watkins McIver.

Thomas served in the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, as a Technical Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 29, 1944, during the liberation of Vexin, France, and is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France. His name is commemorated on the Liberation of Vexin monument in Fontenay-Saint-Pčre, but his middle initial is inscribed as W and ranked as a Sergeant.
