Walter L. Hambleton was born on July 11, 1913, in Weatherford, Texas. He was the son of Walter Albert Hambleton and Allie LaVernon Nix Hambleton. He was married to Ruby Selina Freeman Sibell.
Walter served in the 313th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 27, 1944, at the age of 31, during the liberation of Vexin, France. Pvt Hambleton is now buried in the Portales Cemetery, Portales, Roosevelt County, New Mexico, USA.
