Julian Randolph Morford was born on October 25, 1915, in Bethune, South Carolina. He served in the 511th Fighter Squadron, 405th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant and Pilot on the P-47 Thunderbolt #42-26327 during World War II.

On August 14, 1944, 1Lt Morford took off from Advanced Landing Ground A-8 in Picauville, France, for an armed reconnaissance mission in Dreux. At 2:40 PM, he was shot down in a dogfight by an enemy fighter, crashing his plane near the town of Voise.

1Lt Morford is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
