Elton James McClure was born on June 4, 1921, in Washington, DC. He was the son of James Corbett McClure and Elise Palla McClure.
At the time of his death, Elton was serving in the 420th Air Refueling Squadron. He was one of the crew members and a casualty of the two KB-29 mid-air collision over Normandy, France, on February 2, 1957. Their plane crashed near the village of Morigny, 20 miles from St. Lo. CPT McClure is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
