Richard Arden "Dick" Shobert was born on March 2, 1933. He was the son of Oscar Shobert and Jeannette Fries Shobert.

At the time of his death, Richard was serving in the 420th Air Refueling Squadron. He was one of the crew members and a casualty of the two KB-29 mid-air collision over Normandy, France, on February 2, 1957. Their plane crashed near the village of Morigny, 20 miles from St. Lo. 1Lt Shobert's actual burial is unknown, but he has two memorials in the Ridgefield Cemetery and Cedar Lawns Memorial Park in Washington.
