James R. Erwine was born on June 6, 1931. At the time of his death, he was serving in the 420th Air Refueling Squadron. He was one of the crew members and a casualty of the two KB-29 mid-air collision over Normandy, France, on February 2, 1957. Their plane crashed near the village of Morigny, 20 miles from St. Lo. 1Lt Erwine is now buried in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio, USA.
