Franklin D. Schweigert was born on December 25, 1933. He was the son of Ludwig Schweigert and Matilda Hehn Schweigert

At the time of his death, Franklin was serving in the 420th Air Refueling Squadron. He was one of the crew members and a casualty of the two KB-29 mid-air collision over Normandy, France, on February 2, 1957. Their plane crashed near the village of Morigny, 20 miles from St. Lo. He is now buried in the Eureka City Cemetery, Eureka, McPherson County, South Dakota, USA.
