Michael W. Kearns, Jr. was born on January 15, 1933. He was the son of Michael William Kearns and Sara M Kearns.

At the time of his death, Michael William, Jr. was serving in the 420th Air Refueling Squadron. He was one of the crew members and a casualty of the two KB-29 mid-air collision over Normandy, France, on February 2, 1957. Their plane crashed near the village of Morigny, 20 miles from St. Lo. 1Lt Kearns is now buried in the Saint Joseph Cemetery, Paris, Portage County, Ohio, USA.
