Thaddeus Crayton “T.C.” Johnson, Jr. was born on April 9, 1920, in Coolidge, Thomas County, Georgia. He was the son of Thaddeus Crayton Sr and Agnes Pounds Johnson.

Thaddeus Crayton, Jr. served in the 328th Bomber Squadron, 93rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot on the B-24 #42-40983 'Bar Fly' during World War II.

On April 1, 1944, his crew took off from Hardwick, England, for a mission to Germany. At 11:52H, on return from their mission, their plane was shot down by flak and enemy fighters between Fresne-les-Reims and Burgundy, France. Unfortunately, none of the crew members survived. The MACR cannot be found, but it is possible that the plane crashed in Belgium.

2Lt Johnson is now buried in the South Park Cemetery, Pearland, Brazoria County, Texas, USA. His first name on his headstone is spelled 'Thaddous.'
