Francisco Letona Peccorini was born on November 27, 1915, in San Miguel, El Salvador. He was the son of Miguel Vinerta and Julia (Letona) Peccorini. He came to the United States in 1962 and was naturalized in 1976.
A retired California State University at Long Beach professor, Francisco was assassinated in El Salvador on March 15, 1989. He was seen as a high critic of El Salvador's Christian Democratic government and the political movements. He was shot three times in the chest while driving in downtown San Salvador by a man using a silencer-equipped pistol. Peccorini is now buried in San Salvador, El Salvador.
