Hall Franklin Duncan was born on January 27, 1924, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. He served in the 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry Division, earning a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Combat Infantryman's Badge for his bravery in liberating Bourgaltroff and Guebling in November 1944. In 2013, France awarded him the Legion of Honor, and in 2018, a town square was named after him for his efforts in preserving the history of their liberation. Beyond his military service, Duncan earned a PhD in cross-cultural communications and worked as a missionary in South Africa. He was a lifelong educator, teaching advertising, design, and cartooning at the University of Central Oklahoma. Duncan passed away on November 30, 2020, and his ashes were interred in Guébling, France, fulfilling his wish to rest in the place where he was wounded during the village's liberation.Source of information: www.legacy.com
