Born on October 14, 1908. Pvt. Harold G. Goodman KIA Sept. 21, 1944 Enlisted 11 Feb 1943 U.S. Army 10th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division S/N 32801801 Bronze Star, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster Pvt. Goodman was Initially listed as Missing in Action and his name is inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing, Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, St. Avold (Moselle), France. Cenotaph Here Discovered by a French construction worker at Pournoy-la-Chétive, near Metz, France, Pvt. Goodman's remains were recovered and identified in 1976 Funeral Services were held on January 19, 1977 at the Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial where Pvt. Goodman's remains are now permanently interred. According to the Annual Report of the American Battle Monuments Commission, FY 1977, p.50: 29 March 1976 "The remains of an American Soldier of WWII were found at Verny, near Metz France, by a French construction worker. Identification tags found near the remains bear the name of Private Harold G. Goodman, a member of the 10th Infantry Division which was involved in heavy combat in the Metz area during the Fall of 1944. Private Goodman's name is listed on the Walls of the Missing at the Lorraine American Cemetery. Remains were delivered to the Lorraine cemetery and then were turned over to the United States Amy, Memorial Affairs Activity, Europe, for identification and disposition."
