Lawrence William Gearardo was born on November 21, 1918, in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. He was the son of Malcolm Charles Gearardo. He was married to Margaret Ann Rogers. Pvt Gearardo served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the �Daredevil Tankers�, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

Pvt Gearardo was Killed in Action on March 2, 1945, in Germany. He is now buried in the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, San Mateo County, California, USA.
