William Lipsky was born on June 29, 1916, in Connecticut. He was the son of Antony Lipsky and Malwina Awizic Lipsky. WOJG Lipsky served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the “Daredevil Tankers”, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

WOJG Lipsky was Killed in Action on March 30, 1945, by an artillery shell near Saarburg, France. He is now buried in the Saint Joseph Cemetery, Norwich, New London County, Connecticut, USA.
