Robert Wayne Prillaman was born on August 4, 1912, in Franklin County, Virginia. He was the son of Gabe Prillaman and Mary Tate Stanley Prillaman. Cpl Prillaman served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the “Daredevil Tankers”, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

Cpl Prillaman was Killed in Action on April 13, 1945. He is now buried in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin County, Virginia, USA.
