Clarence Wayne Provin was born on April 1, 1926, in Poweshiek County, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence Raymond Provin and Matilda Wilhemena Schultz Provin. Pvt Provin served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the �Daredevil Tankers�, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

Pvt Provin was Killed in Action in March 1945, in Surth, Germany. He is now buried in the Guernsey Cemetery, Guernsey, Poweshiek County, Iowa, USA.
