Torey Jonteal Dantzler Sr. was born on January 8, 1982, in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. He was the son of JoAnn Dantzler. He was the husband of Serena Dantzler. He graduated from Caldwell Parish High School in 2000. He enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Motor Transport Operator (Military Occupational Specialty 88M) with the 66th Transportation Company based in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

PFC Dantzler was deployed to Iraq to support Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was killed in action on July 22, 2004, near Samarra, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device struck his convoy. He is now buried in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbia, Caldwell Parish, Louisiana, USA.
