Cole William Larsen was born on May 1, 1985, in Van Nuys, Los Angeles County, California. He served as a military policeman with the 272nd Military Police Company, 21st Theater Support Command, based in Mannheim, Germany. He was later deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

PFC Larsen was killed in a vehicle accident on November 13, 2004, in Baghdad, Iraq, when a civilian vehicle struck his military vehicle, causing it to roll over. His name is commemorated on a memorial plaque in the Garden of Veterans at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, Los Angeles County, California, while his ashes were scattered along his favorite dirt bike trail.
