Michael Christopher “Superman” Mahr was born on August 31, 1984, in Orlando, Orange County, Florida. He was the son of Kimberly Albury and the husband of Stephanie Mahr. He attended Sumter High School and worked at Walmart before enlisting in the service. He served as a heavy vehicle driver with the 54th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade, based in Bamberg, Germany. He was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

PFC Mahr was killed on March 22, 2011, in Logar Province, Afghanistan, after enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device, rocket-propelled grenades, and small-arms fire. He is now buried in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Sumter County, Florida, USA.
