Alberto Lustre Obod Jr. was born on August 17, 1985, in Caloocan, Northern Manila District, National Capital Region, Philippines. He served in the United States Army as a Private First Class with the 240th Quartermaster Supply Company, 391st Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 16th Sustainment Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, based in Bamberg, Germany. He was later deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and became a United States citizen in a naturalization ceremony held at Kandahar Airfield.

PFC Obod died on August 28, 2011, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, from wounds sustained in a vehicle rollover while deployed in support of military operations. He is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
