Anton Ramesh Phillips Jr. was born on January 12, 1978, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. He previously served with the 5th Maintenance Company in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He was later assigned to G Forward Support Company, 2nd Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Regiment, Task Force Wildhorse, and deployed to Forward Operating Base Methar Lam, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

SSgt Phillips died on December 31, 2009, while serving in support of military operations. He is now buried in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, USA.
