Tatjana Reed was born on November 3, 1969, in Frankfurt am Main, Stadtkreis Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany. She was the daughter of Brigitte Dykty. She had previously been assigned to several Army installations, including Fort Knox and Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and had also served in Kosovo. She served with the 66th Transportation Company based in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Her unit deployed to Iraq in January 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where she served as a truck driver.

Sgt Reed was killed on July 22, 2004, in Samarra, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy vehicle. Currently, we don't have details about her burial location.
