Eric Stanley Trueblood was born on January 24, 1984, in Laramie, Albany County, Wyoming. He was the son of Donald Trueblood and Linda Trueblood. He enlisted in the United States Army on May 15, 2003, and trained as a Wheeled Vehicle Repairer (MOS 63W). Following his initial assignment with the 557th Maintenance Company at Fort Irwin, California, he deployed to Kuwait with the 699th Maintenance Company from 2004 to 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He later deployed to Afghanistan from 2006 to 2007 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. After completing the Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Trueblood qualified as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician and was assigned to the 720th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 391st Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 16th Sustainment Brigade at Spinelli Barracks in Mannheim, Germany. In February 2011, he returned to Afghanistan as an EOD Team Leader with the 720th EOD Company in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
SSgt Trueblood died on March 10, 2011, in Arghandab Valley, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He is now buried in the Greenhill Cemetery, Laramie, Albany County, Wyoming, USA.
