When Charles Gilbert Albury was born in 1921 in New Jersey, his father, Charles, was 33 and his mother, Mabelle, was 30. He had one daughter with Margaret Needham. He served in the 194th Glider Infantry Regiment, 17th Airborne Division, as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. 2LT Albury was one of the 33 service members who were killed on site when a Horsa glider crashed on tookoff on December 12, 1944 at Greenham Common Airbase, England. Originally buried at Cambridge American Cemetery, he is now buried in the Saint Francis Cemetery, Phelps, Ontario County, New York, USA.
