Anton La Puzza was the Radio Operator of the B-17 44-6612 that took off from Snetterton, England on Mission Number 242 for the 96th Bomb Group on a mission to bomb Mersberg, Germany. This was his first mission. The plane was hit by flak and made an emergency landing in the fields outside of Heufurt, Germany. Nine crew members were taken prisoner of war. All survived the incident and the war. (MACR 11196)
