John F. Delaney was born in 1919, in Saint Charles Township, Kane County, Illinois. He was the son of John Jerome Delaney and Margaret A. "Maggie" Dunn Delaney. John served in the 440th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Armored Division as a Private during World War II. Pvt Delaney died on August 23, 1944, was initially buried at Villeneuve-sur-Auvers in France, and is now buried at Brittany American Cemetery, St. James, France.
