Willie C. Kelley was born on May 26, 1925. When Willie Crockett Kelly was born on May 26, 1925, in Kentucky, his father, Silas, was 26 and his mother, Mary, was 21. He had two brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 179th Engineers Combat Battalion. He died on August 23, 1944, was initially buried at Villeneuve-sur-Auvers in France and is now buried at Swindall Cemetery, Dickenson County, Virginia, USA.
