Adam Venters Jr. was born in 1924 in Kentucky. He was the son of Adam "Add" Venters and Vasie Dingess. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at Huntington, West Virginia, on July 28, 1943, and was assigned to Company A, 179th Engineer Combat Battalion, as a Private First Class.
On August 23, 1944, during the assault crossing of the Seine River near Tilly, France, PFC Venters was killed in action when an enemy artillery shell struck his company's half-track. He is now buried in the Williamson Cemetery, Tomahawk, Martin County, Kentucky, USA.
