Mignano Monte Lungo 3rd Division Cave

The site is located north of town of Mignano Monte Lungo (south of San Pietro Infine) off the main road SS 6 Casalina. To arrive at the site requires off road walking. The town of Mignano Monte Lungo is in the northern part of the region of Campania and the road SS 6 Casalina (the historic road that the 5th Army pushed up from Naples to Rome) runs through the town. The town is located adjacent to Autostrada A1; south of Rome and north of Naples. Exit either south or north of Mignano Monte Lungo and take the SS 6 to marker VII/153 (GPS: Long: 41.4921 Lat: 13.9697) and park near the monument to the Italian Army Bersagliere hero Rino Cozzarini (look for Italian flag on the right side of the road if heading north from Mignano). The parking area is just north along SS 6 from the Italian Sacrario Monte Lungo. From the parking location, follow signs (Grotta Audie Murphy) and walk along trail for approximately .4 miles (10-15 minutes) to arrive at the site. The site can be hard to find; ask the local Historicus Museum In Caspoli or 3rd Infantry Division Association Post #16 for assistance.
