Tincourt New British Cemetery

Description:

One of many British World War I cemeteries in the region. During World War I, the towns of Tincourt, used as a casualty clearing station, and Boucly (then separate towns) were occupied by British troops during the German Retreat to the Hindenburg Line. Started in june of 1917, Tincourt New British Cemetery now conatains over 2,000 burials of casualties from World War I, including soldiers from the UK, Australia, Canada, and Germany. In 1918, there were 136 Americans buried here; they have all since been moved to the Somme American Cemetery.
