On the lawn in front of the building complex, along the pathway to the parking lot.

A headstone-style stele written in French listing the names of Second Lieutenant Armstrong, Sergeant Assaro, and Sergeant Hill who were killed on July 9, 1944. On the upper part of the stele, there’s a picture of the three servicemen.

 

On July 9, 1944, A-20 Havoc #43-9889 (409th Bomber Group, 9th Air Force) took off from Station 165 in Little Walden, Essex, England, on a bombing mission to the Rennes region in France. Shot down by flak at 09h59, the plane crashed into La Thébaudière, in the commune of Montgermont. All 3 crew members were killed in this incident.
