Raymond Theodore “Ray” Dirks was born on October 14, 1917 in Nazareth, Castro County, Texas. He was the son of William Joseph Dirks and Katherine Agnes Seurer Hankins. Raymond enlisted in the Army in 1940 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 745th Tank Battalion. He died on September 11, 1944 at the age of 26 and is now buried in Holy Family Cemetery, Nazareth, Castro County, Texas, USA.
