Vernon Kraeger was born on April 2, 1911 in Saint Louis, St. Louis City, Missouri. He was the son of William F. Kraeger and Helen Meinecke. Vernon served in the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airbone Division as a Captain during World War II. He died on September 27, 1944 at the age of 33 and is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA. He was one of the brave American paratroopers of the 501st Inf who liberated the village of Eerde, The Netherlands from German forces.
