Comments:

Darwin J. Carroll was born in 1921 in Washington. He was the son of Joseph D. Carroll and Edith Ellen Shirk Carroll. He served in the 364th Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group as a Second Lieutenant/Fighter Fighter Pilot during World War II. He was last seen going down out of control on a bomber escort mission to the JU88 plant at Bernburg, Germany, and crashed near Bernberg on February 22, 1944, aboard the P-51B #43-6576 plane. 2LT Carroll is now buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
