Joseph Milton Jenkins was born on October 5, 1922, in Savannah, Georgia. He served in the 364th Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group as a First Lieutenant during World War II. 1LT Jenkins failed to return from a mission in theP-51 #42-103389 aircraft; once the escort was complete, strafed aerodrome in the vicinity of Albert, France, hit by machine-gun fire and light flak and crashed on May 24, 1944. He is buried now in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
