Horace Monroe Roycroft was born on September 23, 1915, in Cherokee County, Kansas, the son of Horace A. Roycroft and Anna Adams Roycroft. Horace served in the 363rd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group as a Lieutenant during World War II. LT Roycroft was killed when his P51 #44-13897 aircraft was lost during bad weather on October 18, 1944. He is buried now in the Mount Olive Cemetery, Pittsburg, Crawford County, Kansas, USA.
