Elmer D. Rydberg entered the military service in Iowa and served in the 362nd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on October 14, 1945, in the crash of his P-51 #43-6629 near Erevent, Germany and now is buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
