William Thomas Lucas, Jr. was born on June 3, 1922 in North Carolina. He was the son of William Thomas Lucas and Sallie Barron Lucas. He was with the 7100 Headquarters Command Wing as a First Lieutenant during the Berlin Airlift. 1LT Lucas was killed in plane crash on August 24, 1948. He was a pilot working to supply the people of Berlin necessary supplies for survival during the Russian blockade. He is buried now in the Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson, Wilson County, North Carolina, USA.
