Charles Lee Putnam was born on April 26, 1924 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a crew member in the C-54 #42-72629 aircraft which, on January 12, 1949, crashed on an approach in a snowstorm near Rhein-Main, Germany. His remains were cremated and the ashes were spread in the mountains around Colorado Springs.
