Next to the Iron Mike monument.

Monument

The monument comprises a main bronze plaque mounted vertically on a wall of field stones, flanked by smaller horizontal plaques listing donors who contributed to the construction of the memorial. The main plaque lists 151 United States Military Academy (USMA) graduates who led and fought during the Allied invasion of Normandy on D-Day, 6 June 1944.

The memorial recognizes the extraordinary leadership and valor demonstrated by those of West Points Long Gray Line who led troops ashore and into combat during the liberation of Europe. Among the notable graduates memorialized on the plaque are GEN Dwight D. Eisenhower (Class of 1915), GEN Omar Bradley (Class of 1915), GEN Willard Wyman (Class of 1919), GEN James Gavin (Class of 1929), and GEN Maxwell Taylor (Class of 1922).

The Normandy Institutes West Point D-Day Memorial Commission worked on the memorial in collaboration with the West Point Association of Graduates; the First Division Museum Archives at Cantigny in Wheaton, Illinois; and the 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The Normandy Institute unveiled the monument on 4 June 2026. Speakers at the unveiling included LTG Steven W. Gilland (Class of 1990), the 61st Superintendent of USMA; Dr. Frank Luntz, Senior Fellow at West Point; GEN David M. Rodriguez (Class of 1976), former Commanding General of the 82nd Airborne Division and former Commander of U.S. Army Forces Command; LTG Curtis Buzzard (Class of 1992), former Commandant of USMA and current Commanding General of Security Assistance GroupUkraine; and LTG Mark Landes (Class of 1990), current Commanding General of the First United States Army.
