B-17 'Strictly GI' (43-37594) Crash Marker

In a wooded clearing just off the historic trail. Marker  

A large local sandstone with a inscribed metal plaque attached o the front; a park bench is set near the memorial.

The memorial marks the location of the crash of B-17 'Strictly GI' (43-375-94 of the 323rd Bomber Squadron, 91st Bomber Group, 8th US Air Force.  On September 9, 1944 'Strictly GI' was part of a 400 plane mission to bomb Mannheim and Ludwigshafen. 'Strictly GI was shot down after the mission and crashed at this location; 4 of the crew were taken POW and 5 were KIA. 

The memorial was dedicated in July 2023.
